Sagan was a passionate advocate for science education and the promotion of critical thinking. He was a frequent guest on television shows, including “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,” and he hosted his own television series, “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage,” which aired in 1980. The series was later adapted into a book, which became a best-seller.

Sagan was diagnosed with bone marrow disease in 1994, and he died on December 20 of that year at the age of 62. His death was mourned by many, and his contributions to science and popular culture continue to be celebrated today.
