Yesterday, Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, had a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry. This event marked the highest-level meeting between the two countries in years and has sparked hope for the improvement of the previously strained relationship between Turkey and Egypt.

The meeting, which took place in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum, was held on the sidelines of a meeting of the African Union’s Peace and Security Council. The two foreign ministers discussed a range of issues, including the ongoing conflict in Libya, the situation in Syria, and the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

The meeting was described as “positive” by both sides, with Çavuşoğlu stating that Turkey was “ready to work with Egypt.” Shoukry, on the other hand, expressed his hope that the meeting would be a “new beginning” for the relationship between the two countries.

The relationship between Turkey and Egypt has been strained since the ousting of former President Mohammed Morsi in 2013. Turkey has been a vocal critic of the Egyptian government and has been accused of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, which was designated as a terrorist organization by the Egyptian government. Egypt has also accused Turkey of meddling in its internal affairs and of supporting terrorist groups operating in Egypt.

However, the recent developments in Libya have brought Turkey and Egypt closer together as both countries have been involved in the conflict. Turkey has been supporting the UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) in Libya, while Egypt has been supporting the Libyan National Army (LNA) led by General Khalifa Haftar.

The meeting between Çavuşoğlu and Shoukry is a positive step towards the improvement of relations between the two countries. While it is too early to tell if this marks the beginning of a new era in the Turkey-Egypt relationship, it is a sign that both sides are willing to engage in dialogue and cooperation.

In conclusion, the meeting between Bakan Çavuşoğlu and Mısırlı mevkidaşıyla görüştü marks an important development in the relationship between Turkey and Egypt. It is a positive step towards the improvement of relations between the two countries and hopefully marks the beginning of a new era of cooperation and dialogue. The next steps will be crucial in determining the future of the relationship between Turkey and Egypt.
