BRENT PETROL NEDİR?
Dünya petrol piyasasına yön veren petroldür. Londra Brent ya da Brent Blend olarak da bilinir. Çıkaran şirket Shell tarafından “Brent Goose” ismi verilmiş olup, içeriğinde %0,37 oranında sülfür bulunur ve bu da Brent Petrol’ün işlenmesi daha kolay olan “tatlı petrol” sınıfında yer almasını sağlar.
Ham petrolü işleyen rafineriler için düşük sülfürlü yani tatlı dediğimiz petrolden benzin veya dizel yakıtı üretmek daha kolaydır. Bu bölgeden çıkarılan petrol tatlı ve hafiftir. Bu yüzden rafine edilmesi kolay dolayısıyla benzin ve dizel yakıt üretimi için uygundur. Ayrıca denizden çıkarıldığı için nakliyesi doğrudan deniz üzerinden uzak bölgelere gönderimini kolaylaştırır.

SPK’nın internet sitesinde yer alan verilere göre; bir varil petrol 42 galon ham petrol eşdeğerindedir (159 litre).
Bir varil ham petrolden, 19,6 galon benzin, 10 galon dizel yakıt ve ısıtıcı yakıt, 4 galon jet yakıtı, 1,7 galon ağır akaryakıt, 1,7 galon LPG ve 7,6 galon diğer türevler üretilebilmektedir.
Bütün ham petroller eş değerde değildir.
