Paramount Pictures, efsanevi yönetmen Alfred Hitchcock’un 1958 tarihli klasik psikolojik gerilim filmi “Vertigo”yu yeniden çekmeye hazırlanıyor. Filmin senaryosunu Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, Locke, Spencer) kaleme alacak.
Filmin yapımcılığını üstlenen Robert Downey Jr.’ın aynı zamanda başrolde oynamayı da değerlendirdiği bildiriliyor. Orijinal filmin başrolünde James Stewart yer alıyor ve John ‘Scottie’ Ferguson adındaki eski bir polis dedektifine hayat veriyor.
Scottie bir görev esnasında yaşadığı travma sonucunda yoğun bir yükseklik korkusuyla ve vertigo hastalığıyla baş etmek zorunda kalır ve görevden ayrılır. Mecburen emekli olan dedektif, bir arkadaşının ricası üzerine özel bir işi kabul eder ve arkadaşının ruhsal durumundan şüphe ettiği eşi Madeleine’i (Kim Novak) izlemeye başlar.
Scottie kadını takip ettikçe bir şeylerin ters gittiğini anlar ve kadının intihara meyilli olduğunu görür. Artık işleri yoluna koymak için onu uzaktan takip etmek yetersiz kalacaktır ve Scottie kendi korkularıyla da yüzleşeceği bir mücadelenin içerisine sürüklenir.
Orijinal film de Paramount çatısı altından çıkmıştı ve Hitchcock Estate bu nedenle yeniden çevrim için yine stüdyoyu seçti. Orijinal senaryo, Boileau-Narcejac tarafından kaleme alınan D’entre les morts (From Among the Dead) kitabıdan, Alec Coppel ve Samuel A. Taylor tarafından uyarlanmıştı.
