Marmaris is a beautiful coastal town in Turkey that attracts tourists from all over the world. However, it is not just a tourist destination but also a hub for illegal immigration. In a recent development, 16 irregular migrants were rescued in Marmaris.

The Turkish Coast Guard rescued 16 migrants from the Aegean Sea. The migrants were said to be trying to cross over to the Greek island of Rhodes. The incident took place on February 18, 2021. The migrants had set sail on a boat from the Datça district of Muğla.

According to the Coast Guard, the migrants were in a state of severe exhaustion and dehydration. The Coast Guard team provided immediate medical assistance and food to the migrants. The migrants were identified as Palestinian, Syrian, and Iraqi nationals.

The Turkish authorities have been on high alert to prevent illegal immigration. The Turkish Ministry of the Interior stated that over 60,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended in the year 2020 by the Turkish Coast Guard.

The Turkish authorities have been taking various measures to prevent illegal immigration, including establishing cooperation with the European Union and increasing surveillance along Turkey’s borders. However, despite their efforts, illegal immigration persists.

The recent incident once again highlights the dangers associated with illegal immigration. Many migrants risk their lives, but others also end up becoming victims of human trafficking, exploitation, and abuse. Therefore, it is essential to address the root causes of migration and create a safe and legal pathway for people to migrate.

In conclusion, the rescue of 16 migrants in Marmaris serves as a reminder of the challenges the world faces regarding illegal immigration. The Turkish authorities must continue to take measures to prevent smuggling and human trafficking. The world must work together to address the root causes of migration and create a safe and legal pathway for people to migrate.
