Muharrem İnce, the former presidential candidate and current chair of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) in Turkey, has reportedly gained over 100,000 signatures in support of his political movement, the Homeland Movement (Vatan Hareketi).

The milestone was celebrated by İnce, who took to social media to express his gratitude to the Turkish people for their support. “Dear Turkey, thank you for supporting the Homeland Movement. We will continue to work tirelessly to make our country a better place for all of us. Together we can overcome all challenges,” he tweeted.

The Homeland Movement was established by İnce in 2020, following his resignation from the CHP. The movement aims to bring together all those who share a common goal of rebuilding Turkey and restoring democracy, justice and freedom.

The movement has gained significant momentum in recent months, with İnce touring the country to meet with supporters and hold rallies. His message of hope, unity and transparency has resonated with many in Turkey, particularly those disillusioned with the current government.

İnce’s popularity was particularly evident during the 2018 presidential elections, when he ran as the main opposition candidate against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Despite ultimately losing the election, İnce was able to generate significant support and enthusiasm during his campaign.

Since then, he has continued to be a vocal critic of the government and its policies, particularly on issues such as human rights, press freedom and the economy. İnce has also called for electoral reforms to ensure free and fair elections in Turkey.

The fact that İnce has been able to gather more than 100,000 signatures in support of the Homeland Movement is a testament to his popularity and the growing frustration among many Turks with the current state of politics in the country.

While İnce has not yet announced whether he will run in the next presidential elections scheduled for 2023, his growing support and the success of the Homeland Movement suggest that he could be a serious contender.
