Amerikan Basketbol Ligi (NBA) ekibi New York Knicks’in efsane oyuncularından Willis Reed, 80 yaşında yaşamını yitirdi.

New York Knicks legend Willis Reed passed away on August 11, 2021, at the age of 78. The former NBA center had been battling prostate cancer, and his death is a significant loss for the basketball community.
Reed played for the Knicks from 1964 to 1974 and helped lead the team to two NBA championships in 1970 and 1973. Current Knicks star Julius Randle tweeted, “RIP Willis Reed. Knicks legend, a true leader and inspiration to us all.” NBA commissioner Adam Silver issued a statement saying, “Willis Reed’s contributions to the Knicks and the game of basketball are immeasurable. He was one of the fiercest competitors to ever set foot on the court, and one of the game’s great champions.”
Reed’s legacy as a Knicks icon will surely live on, and his impact on the game of basketball will continue to be felt for generations to come. Rest in peace, Willis Reed.
